***** BABY CELEBRATION BRUNCH  – FRIDAY APRIL 18th  10AM********** ??

ITEM  1.

 ARTICULATION GRADES 6 & 7

Wednesday, April 9th There will be both a morning and afternoon homeroom – in the afternoon homeroom 6th & 7th grade teachers will COLLECT ALL SUBJECT SELECTION FORMS to hand back out the next morning – Period 2 Thursday remind 6th & 7th grade students to have parents sign the form and return it to homeroom the next day.

2014-2015 Subject Selection forms – new courses for 2014-2015 school year are: 

o   Beginning Dance for 6th graders (fulfills the PE requirement)

o   Digital Media for 7th and 8th graders

o   Biology (high school course) for 8th graders that have already completed     Physical Science (high school course)

In-house Articulation Memo – In-house Articulation will be from Wednesday, April 9th through Friday, April 11th. Wednesday, April 9th we will have a morning and afternoon Homeroom. Teachers must read the memo and follow directions carefully. A hardcopy of this in-house articulation memo will be placed in each teacher’s mailbox.

 Placement Criteria/Recommendations by teachers – criteria handout will be placed in each teacher’s mailbox.

6th Grade to 7th Grade Physical Science

– Maturity & Homework completion

– Strong mathematics skills

-Grade of A/high B

 

7th Grade to Physical Science

Grade A/B

Strong Mathematics skills

 

Physical Science to Biology

Grade A/B =Biology

Grade C or below  – Adv. Comprehensive Science 3

 

Advanced versus Regular Comprehensive

Grade A/B    – Good work habits –  Motivation

 

Regular Comprehensive   Grades C or below

(If a student is borderline chose the higher level option –

Student performance will be reviewed at First quarter Progress reports & adjustments to the schedule will be made.)

 

Very IMPORTANT: Teachers teaching INCLUSION classes – Recommend only the ESE students CURRENTLY in your inclusion class to another INCLUSION class for next school year. Recommend only the Gen. Ed. (NON ESE) students in your inclusion class to a REGULAR class for next school year.

 

ITEM 2.  

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BELLRINGER FIRST THING EACH PERIOD SO YOU HAVE TIME TO CHECK EMAIL UPDATES AT THE START OF EACH PERIOD!

FCAT Testing – it is IMPERATIVE that emails are read periodically during the day (morning, noon and afternoon), especially those regarding FCAT testing (from Ms. Delgado and Ms. Floyd). Everyone must be informed of anything and everything pertaining to testing.

 

Mandatory FCAT training on April 8th – it WILL be a long meeting. Starts at 3:50 pm.

 

Our Science FCAT Testing will be Monday, April 21st – MORE TIME FOR PREP!

 

ITEM 3.  KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THIS!

Homeroom Videos addressing weak math benchmarks will start either Friday April 4th or Monday, April 7th.

All teachers must show these videos through Homeroom and keep classroom doors open.

MAKE SURE YOUR KIDS ARE ATTENTIVE TO THE VIDEO.

 

ITEM 4.

iHEAT SCIENCE WORKSHOPS HAVE STARTED!

 

BASIC FYI

Prep Math Classroom will be used for testing, which means that Mr. Perez, Ms. Diaz-Sevilla and Ms. Rovirosa will be relocated (possibly to the iTech Lounge, Teacher’s Lounge next to iTech lounge and Media Center).

 

Honor Roll Assemblies for 3rd 9 weeks will take place on the following dates:

 o   8th Grade – Wednesday, April 9th

o   6th Grade – Thursday, April 10th

o   7th Grade – Friday, April 11th.

 

Special Author Presentation on Friday, April 11th at 11:00 am

 

Next meeting – April 17th  We will talk about DISSECTIONS!
