HAPPY NEW YEAR!

1. Interims – Distribute & Sign out 8th grade

6th & 7th grade will have tests end of day tomorrow or Monday morning.

2. Science Family Night

Science Fair – There will be ribbons and certificates for science fair projects.  I need all of the projects in my room by Thursday 1/5/12  9:30AM so I can get the projects numbered and registered and in turn, get you the invitations to hand out Thursday and Friday each block.

Science Awards – These students will receive certificates and small medals.  Please send me a list of names by Thursday 1/5/12 9:30AM so I can get you the invitations to hand out Thursday and Friday each block.

Please let your winners know that there is a spaghetti dinner from 5:30-6:45 PM Wednesday night prior to the Awards Ceremony. Also make sure students know that they should dress appropriately to receive an award (No shorts, T shirts or flipflops)  When they arrive at the Awards ceremony they need to check in by the stage so we know they are attending – Their award will not be announced if they do not check in!

We will also have the Vox Populi Award – Tickets to vote may be purchased for 25 cents per vote. Students and parents may vote for the projects they think are the best. Students are encouraged to be in front of their project boards the night of the Fair and they may talk to the audience, showoff any models or demos they would like to do that are ot terribly hazardous. This year we will be awarding a Kindle Fire to the winner of the Vox Populi contest. (Teams split the cash value)

Please let me know if you will be able to attend.

3. Hand out data reports for October Fall Interims Grade 8  – Note All grade levels will do the Winter Interim so  A) You have useful data  B) We can use the results to determine eligibility for advanced & accelerated classes

4.  I need to meet with 6th grade teachers at the end of this meeting to discuss our requirements for students transitioning from 5th to 6th grade.
